Day 12 of LL- Being Weird isn't Always Bad

Image
Sometimes I wonder if time has wings like the birds that are shrieking at each other right now outside my window. Time flies so quickly that I have started to actually believe that they actually have wings, but one thing is for sure, they don't have loud voices unlike those birds out there. They fly away without making the slightest sound. These little thieves always come to our homes to steal away our most precious treasure, time. You might not realize, but it's been nearly 10 months since I have started this blog! When I first started, I was so overwhelmed by the fact that this would take up the entire school year, but look! It's already near the end. During this time period, I discussed about quite a few landmarks that I'm interested in and have found some amazing facts about it. However, do you realize that this world has many unexpected and weird landmarks as well? After so many blogs about popular landmarks in the world, I will focus on the strange monu

Day 11 of LL- Blue, white, blue, white, blue 。。。

Image
What type of words would pop up in your mind if I say the word “Greece”? You might say words like blue, beautiful, pure white, and perhaps, even Santorini Oia Church panorama. That would probably be the same for me because Greece is honestly a very beautiful country with buildings that are so unique that it seems to be hand-made by God and his angels. They have amazing buildings painted with navy blue and white that have become one of the icon and symbol of Greece, and one of their most amazing building is the Santorini Oia Church panorama. ⃣💭💙💭 💭💙💭 ⃣ Santorini Oia Church panorama is a landmark in Oia, a small town in Greece, that have attracted many tourists to visit since the time it was built. To be honest, if I got the chance to visit anywhere I want, this church will certainly be at the top of my list. Not only that, but blue domed churches are also a great place to hold weddings. The blue and white colours would match wedding dresses! IT'S TOO PRETTY S

Day 10 of LL-こんにちは!🌸

Image
こんにちは! It has been nearly two months since I last published a blog, and if you would recall, my two previous blogs were about a temple in Japan called Kiyomizu-Dera. In part one of this series, I talked about its history and legends behind how this temple was created. In part two, the various features and facilities were described. Now you may think this topic is getting boring, but actually there are still a one more thing I want to share with you guys. 🌸🌸🌸 The feature I want to talk about today is the Otowa Waterfall. The stone fence around the waterfall prevents visitors from accidently falling into pond. Although the pond is not deep, but there a danger of serious injury if anyone falls in it. It is located at the base of the main hall and there, you will see a little shelter with water falling down from the top of the roof. The water are separated into three distinct streams, and they fall into a small pond that lies beneath them. Although they came from the same water s

Two Out of Three Terms Completed: What have I done so far?

Image
🕑🕒🕓🕔 🕕🕖🕗🕘 It is now March, which means there is only about 3 to 4 months left before this school year ends. I will become a grade 10 in September, but I honestly still feel like a grade 7. Time flew by so fast that it was almost like I didn’t get anything done during the first and second term. All I can think of is the countless mistakes I made this year including the times where I forgot a homework was due or a french skit has to be performed that day. Although I feel like I didn’t achieve anything, but if I truly think about, I might actually did get something done. Maybe I diddd accomplish something         Some of my accomplishments are academic, but the ones that I am truly proud of are achievements in extracurricular activities. The one that I am the most proud of was my medal testing in January for the bronze level of ballroom dancing. It was originally planned to be held in December, but it ended up being postponed to January because of a sudden

Day 9 of LL- The Japanese Temple Pt.2🌸

Image
In the previous blog, I talked about the legend of how the Kiyomizu-Dera temple came about, but to most of us here, Japanese isn’t a language we are particularly familiar with. Therefore, we might not even know what “Kiyomizu” mean! To better understand this topic, I did some research and found out that Kiyomizu means “pure water” in English, so the Kiyomizu temple literally means the pure water temple. It may seem like a pretty random name, but it actually isn’t since the name was inspired from where it’s located in, the Otowa waterfall in the wooded hill east of Kyoto. This temple is an amazing place to look at the astonishing view of cherry blossoms and maple trees. The pink colour from the cherry blossoms and the red-orange colour from the maple leaves combine together to create a picture of spring and autumn. In fact, a wooden stage just outside the main hall made it easy to do so. Although nails were not used in the construction of the wooden stage, it still manages to st

Day 8 of LL- The Birth of a Japanese Temple🌸

Image
When I say the word temple, what comes to mind? Perhaps an image of a spiritual structure would float up in your mind and pictures of people kneeling down would be seen. However, that’s not the case for the temple in Kyoto, Japan. It is incredibly unusual how it is often crowded with people, noisy with children’s voices, and busy from selling amulets and fortunes. Despite this difference, it still became one of Japan’s most famous landmark. This oddly different temple is the Kiyomizu-Dera Temple.🌸 Temples usually have various stories behind it on how everything started, and one of the legend about Kiyomizu-Dera said it started in the late eighth century CE with the dream, Engine, a Japanese monk of the Hosso sect of Buddhism. The dream was about a golden river flowing down Mount Otowa right on top of Kyoto. Curious about his dream, Enchin visited the mountains and to his surprise, encountered an elder there. ⾦✨(gold) That old man was named Gyoei and he stated that he ha

Day 7 of LL- London Bridge is falling down, my fair lady🎵

London Bridge   is falling down, falling down, falling down. London Bridge is falling down, my fair lady . 🎵~ 🎶   🎶 🎶   🎶 🎶   🎶   🎶  🎶 Many of us grown up being fairly familiar with the nursery rhyme “London Bridge is falling down”. I remember singing these type of children songs when I was a kindergartner in elementary. It's fun to sing and the melody is also easy to memorize too! Not only that, but it's about one of the world's most famous landmark. This landmark that we sang about numerous times as a kid is the London Bridge. I would usually only sing the first verse and stop there, but if you remember all the lyrics then you would know that many different building material are mentioned throughout the song. Why is that? The first London bridge was believed to be built by the Romans during the first century, but over the years, it has been rebuilt many times. These bridges later each got taken down either from disasters or having the need to be
